I want to clear something up: the media isn’t the only way to get noticed. Sure, a feature in a magazine or a TV interview feels amazing (and yes, I help with that too), but real visibility doesn’t always start under studio lights. Sometimes, it starts in your own neighborhood — at a business brunch, a community board meeting, or even your local coffee shop, where half the small business owners meet before 9 a.m.


The truth is, exposure lives where people gather. When you show up at local events, join a chamber of commerce, volunteer for a cause, or collaborate with your city council, you’re not just building community; you’re building credibility. People remember the faces that keep showing up, not the ones that only appear when the cameras do.


I’ve seen brands grow faster by shaking hands at community events than waiting months for a media pitch to land. Why? Because connection travels faster than a press release. When people know you, like you, and trust you, they’ll talk about you. And that, my friend, is the most powerful form of PR there is.


So while the media spotlight is great, don’t forget the smaller spotlights around you. Those church health fairs, networking mixers, and small business expos are filled with opportunities to grow your visibility one handshake at a time.
